The role

As an Environmental Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll be a key member of the Environmental, Health and Safety team, providing practical advice and guidance across part of the Mission Systems business. You'll support managers and colleagues in maintaining high standards of environmental, health and safety performance while helping to develop initiatives that strengthen our safety culture and operational excellence.

Day-to-day, you’ll have a role that offers excellent exposure to a wide range of stakeholders and provides opportunities to develop specialist expertise in areas such as environmental protection, sustainability, occupational health and hygiene, fire safety, and workplace compliance.

  • Providing competent environmental, health and safety advice and support to managers and employees across the business.
  • Conducting workplace inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legislation, company requirements, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Supporting investigations into environmental, health and safety events and helping implement effective corrective actions.
  • Contributing to safety improvement plans, performance reporting and key business initiatives.
  • Leading or supporting specialist workstreams focused on areas such as sustainability, environmental management, occupational health, fire safety and regulatory compliance.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Environmental Health and Safety Advisor

  • Experience working as an Environmental, Health and Safety Advisor or within an operational health and safety role for a minimum of two years within an industrial or complex environment.
  • Experience communicating safety risks, deficiencies and improvement actions to stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience working within ISO-certified management systems.
  • Experience building effective relationships and influencing stakeholders to drive improvements in environmental, health and safety performance.
  • Experience supporting compliance, auditing or continuous improvement activities within a regulated environment.

Qualifications for the Environmental Health and Safety Advisor

Essential

  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Level 3 health and safety qualification.

Preferred

  • Membership of IOSH or another relevant professional body.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
  • Qualification in Environmental Management and/or Sustainability.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
