The role

As a Survival Equipment Technician, you'll play a critical role in supporting Fast Jet Flying Training operations by ensuring survival and aircrew equipment remains safe, compliant and ready for use. Working as part of the Survival Equipment Team, you will carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities that directly support operational capability and aircrew safety.

This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your aviation engineering expertise in a highly specialised environment, where your work will have a direct impact on safety, regulatory compliance and mission success.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Conducting maintenance, inspection and diagnostic activities on survival and aircrew equipment assemblies.
  • Resolving faults, carrying out repairs, modifications, replacements and functional testing of equipment.
  • Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with approved technical information and work packages.
  • Performing critical checks, inspections and configuration management activities to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Supporting tooling, test equipment and procedural compliance within the maintenance facility.

This role is based on site at RAF Valley, Anglesey and is 36 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Survival Equipment Technician:

  • Experience working on relevant survival equipment or comparable aircraft systems within the last two years.
  • Extensive previous experience in a Survival Equipment Technician or similar aviation engineering role.
  • Strong analytical and fault-finding skills gained in previous positions.

Qualifications for the Survival Equipment Technician:

  • Formal engineering training in RAF Trade Group 13 or equivalent.
  • Trade Qualified Authorisations in QSEAC or AVMEDSE.
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, including City & Guilds 2675, 2661 or equivalent, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
