The role

As a Stores Operative, you'll play a key role in supporting training operations by ensuring equipment, stores and supplies are available when needed. This is a varied, hands-on position that combines stock control and customer service responsibilities with deliveries across the estate. You'll be part of a supportive team, helping to maintain smooth operations while developing valuable logistics, inventory and warehousing experience.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Issuing stores items and equipment to customers and maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintaining inventory levels, completing stock checks and supporting audits.
  • Updating paperwork and computer systems relating to stores accounts and inventory management.
  • Delivering equipment and supplies across the estate using company vehicles.
  • Moving equipment and furniture while ensuring stores areas remain clean, organised and ready for use.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role. The successful candidate will also be required to drive.

This is a full-time, site-based role at RSME, Chatham.

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Essential experience of the Stores Operative:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a physically active role involving manual handling activities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications for the Stores Operative:

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
