The role

As a Programme Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll take ownership of major infrastructure projects that support critical national capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-profile projects from planning through to delivery, working with multidisciplinary teams, customers, stakeholders and delivery partners to achieve outstanding outcomes.

You'll play a pivotal role in driving project performance, managing risks and opportunities, and ensuring successful delivery against cost, schedule and quality objectives. Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Build and lead integrated project delivery teams to define, plan, monitor and successfully deliver complex programmes.
  • Own customer, stakeholder and delivery partner relationships, ensuring strong collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain effective governance arrangements to support successful programme delivery.
  • Lead resource, financial and subcontractor management activities while supporting the development of colleagues and providing escalation support where required.
  • Manage project risks, assumptions, issues, opportunities and dependencies to ensure delivery objectives are achieved.

This is a full-time role, based at Devonport, working 35 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Programme Manager

  • Demonstrable project management experience with a proven track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Extensive recent and relevant experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure or similar project-based environments.
  • Full project lifecycle experience from project initiation through to completion.
  • Experience working across a variety of project types, services and lifecycle phases.
  • Awareness of industry-standard contracting methodologies, including NEC and/or JCT contracts.

Qualifications for the Programme Manager

Essential

  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • APM Project Management Qualification (APM PMQ) or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
  • NEC and/or JCT qualification.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
