The role
As a Driver you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll have a key role working within a small but highly effective Transport Services team, where the highest standards will be expected. You'll be responsible for making sure RAF personnel, equipment and vehicles get to the right place, at the right time!
Day-to-day you’ll be responsible for:
- Loading/unloading and restraint of loads.
- Driving cars and vans, taking personnel to airports and railheads and driving them to perform domestic tasks
- Ensure full and complete daily inspections are carried out when tasked or required. Any faults found are to be reported promptly to MT Control personnel using the correct documentation.
- Complete when required Airfield Sweeping duties in line with the RAF Cranwell Sweeping plan.
This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Cranwell and RAF Digby. You will be travelling across the UK, and you may need to stay overnight with all expenses covered. The role is a casual, zero hour contract allowing you to pick up shifts at your own convenience.
Essential experience of the Driver:
- Familiar with Vehicle inspections
- Previous driving experience in Mechanical Transport and Logistics environment
- Experience with driving hours and Tachographs
- Reasonable knowledge of UK roads and comfortable driving in other cities.
Qualifications for the Driver:
- Clean driving Licence Cat B
- Must be able to pass a colour perception test
- Cat D and DCPC licence (desirable)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
