This is a hands-on role where your technical expertise and commitment to safety will directly contribute to national defence and maritime innovation.Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:<ul><li>Fabricating and altering structures using a variety of metals and thicknesses.</li><li>Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.</li><li>Performing structural repairs and manufacturing structural modules.</li><li>Operating general workshop tools and fabrication machinery.</li></ul>What you’ll bring<ul><li>Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.</li><li>Competence in using fabrication tools and workshop machinery.</li><li>Experience in marine engineering or similar sectors (e.g., Royal Navy, RFA, commercial shipbuilding).</li><li>A strong safety-first mindset and attention to detail.</li></ul>Qualifications Indentured Apprenticeship or Level 2 qualification in fabrication, structural steel, or sheet metal work.Working Pattern<ul><li>Full-time, 35 hours per week.</li><li>Based on-site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.</li><li>Includes Optimised Working Patterns (OWP) with 4-week shift cycles (day/back or day/night shifts).</li><li>OWP includes enhanced pay—details available from the hiring manager.</li></ul>Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. OWP is a temporary variation to your standard terms and condition that commits you to support 7-day working arrangements. For full details of the patterns, pay and durations, this can be found in the OWP 1 and OWP 2 agreements (available from hiring manager).Primarily, it involves 4-week shift cycles consisting of either day/back shift or day/night shift.
