Play a key role in shaping the future of the UK submarine fleet. As part of a skilled Naval Architecture and Outfitting team, you’ll apply your technical expertise to complex engineering challenges across in-service and next-generation platforms—supporting national security through innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence.Day-to-day, you’ll apply specialist expertise in submarine naval architecture to deliver technical solutions that enhance platform capability, support fleet sustainability, and address complex design challenges across current and future submarine systems.&nbsp;<ul><li>Manage through-life growth impacts&nbsp;to maintain submarine safety and performance.</li><li>Conduct stability analyses and experiments&nbsp;using empirical methods and industry-standard tools.</li><li>Produce calculations and guidance&nbsp;for safe docking, undocking, and manoeuvring operations.</li><li>Develop tailored engineering tools and procedures&nbsp;to meet complex client requirements.</li><li>Support design activities&nbsp;from feasibility to detailed design for modifications and capability enhancements.</li></ul>This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.Essential experience of the Naval Architect<ul type="disc"><li>Proficient in industry-standard tools, including Paramarine, Ansys, MATLAB, MathCAD, Orcaflex, Rhinoceros, AutoCAD/Inventor, and MS Excel.</li><li>Effective team player&nbsp;with the ability to take ownership and deliver in dynamic environments.</li><li>Analytical and proactive problem-solver, focused on delivering practical engineering solutions.</li><li>Experienced in submarine/surface ship stability experiments&nbsp;and dry-docking practices.</li><li>Strong personal management, communication, and organisational skills&nbsp;to support technical delivery.</li></ul>Qualifications for the Naval Architect<ul type="disc"><li>Degree (BSc, BEng, MSc, or MEng) in Naval Architecture, Marine Technology, Ship Science, or a related STEM discipline.</li><li>Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with RINA or equivalent or working towards it.</li></ul>Security ClearanceThe successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
