The role

As a Workshop Operations Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting workshop performance, helping to drive safety, productivity, compliance, and continuous improvement across operations. Working closely with supervisors and stakeholders, you'll provide the coordination, analysis, and operational support that keeps workshop activities running efficiently and safely.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence performance, improve processes, and contribute to a critical defence support environment while developing your leadership and operational management experience.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:

  • Driving workshop performance through data analysis, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Coordinating operational activities to support safe and efficient delivery of work.
  • Managing compliance and audit activities to ensure standards and policies are maintained.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Collaborating with supervisors and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve operational performance.

This role is based on site at Catterick, North Yorkshire and is a 37-hour per week position, Monday to Friday.

Essential experience of the Workshop Operations Manager:

  • Experience using data and reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel to analyse and present performance information.
  • Experience working in a supervisory position.
  • Ability to interpret operational data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience supporting compliance, performance, or operational activities within a workshop, logistics, manufacturing, engineering, or similar environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications for the Workshop Operations Manager:

Educated to Level 2 in the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) or equivalent workplace experience. This may include an Intermediate Apprenticeship, Level 2 NVQ, GCSEs, O Levels, or equivalent qualifications.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
