The role

As a Weapons Technician, you will join a highly skilled engineering team supporting critical defence equipment used by military and civil customers. You will play a hands-on role in maintaining and enhancing vehicles and armament systems that are essential to national security and operational readiness.

This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.00 am to 3.30pm and Friday 7.00am – 12.00pm based on site at Ashchurch with overtime being available.


Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance, repair and modification of defence vehicles and armament systems
  • Diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and completing effective repairs
  • Conducting inspections and equipment examinations to meet production and safety requirements
  • Working collaboratively with team members to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with technical standards and safety procedures

Essential experience of the Weapons Technician:

  • Holding previous experience in a similar mechanical, armourer or technician role
  • Demonstrating strong hands-on skills in maintenance and fault diagnosis
  • Bringing experience in military environments or automotive/mechanical workshops (advantageous)
  • Showing the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build strong working relationships
  • Being able to meet requirements for Security Check clearance

Qualifications for the Weapons Technician:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain < Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
