As a Warehouse Operations Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a fast‑paced, high‑impact leadership role where you’ll drive performance, safety and continuous improvement while developing a large team and your own career in an environment committed to learning, innovation and lifetime engineering.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead multi‑site warehouse and logistics operations that directly support Ministry of Defence activity, keeping people and platforms mission‑ready.
- Lead day‑to‑day warehouse and logistics operations across multiple sites, ensuring safe, high‑performing service delivery.
- Ensure activities comply with Ministry of Defence logistics requirements, quality standards and safety regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement, including digital transformation and automation to optimise layout, processes and systems.
- Manage budgets and key performance indicators, forecasting and reporting to internal and customer forums.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders (Ministry of Defence, DE&S, suppliers and internal teams) while leading, mentoring and developing a large, diverse team.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Warehouse Operations Manager
- Proven leadership in warehouse or logistics management, ideally in a defence or secure environment.
- Strong understanding of Ministry of Defence logistics systems, protocols and policies.
- Demonstrated capability in budget management and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience resolving complex logistical challenges with minimal operational disruption.
Qualifications for the Warehouse Operations Manager
- Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management (or equivalent).
- Professional logistics qualification or membership (e.g., CILT). - Desirable
- Lean or continuous improvement certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt) - Desirable
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
