The role
As a Vocational Driver, you’ll be at the heart of our transport operations, supporting Ministry of Defence and Babcock projects. This is more than just driving - it’s about contributing to national security and working within a highly regulated environment where precision and safety matter. You’ll gain exposure to specialist transport duties and have opportunities to upskill and progress your career in a dynamic, secure setting.
Day-to-day, you’ll:
- Operate vehicles safely and efficiently to meet MOD and Babcock transport requirements.
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain compliance with all safety and security standards.
- Carry out vehicle checks and ensure documentation is accurate.
- Support wider dockyard operations as part of the Transport Department.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Vocational Driver
- Proven experience in professional driving and transport operations, ideally in a regulated or secure environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Vocational Driver
- Category C+E (Unit and Trailer) licence.
- In-date Driver CPC Qualification and Digital Tachograph card required.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
