The role

As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll step into a role that is truly out of the ordinary. You’ll be deployed overseas to support advanced military wheeled vehicles—maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing equipment that plays a critical role in global defence operations. This is engineering with real impact. Every task helps ensure the safety, readiness, and operational capability of those who rely on these vehicles in demanding environments.

Day‑to‑day, you will:

  • Carry out vehicle examinations and servicing in line with current legislation and safety standards.
  • Diagnose faults and complete mechanical and electrical repairs on a wide range of advanced military vehicles.
  • Apply modern repair techniques while adapting to unusual and varied vehicle platforms.
  • Use technical manuals, diagnostic tools and digital schematics to support repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure all activities remain compliant with VOSA/Department for Transport requirements, health and safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time, 60 hours per week and is based either in Kenya, Brunei or Belize. Typically you will work 3 months on 1 month off.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • Confident using laptops, diagnostic tools and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to make rational, evidence‑based decisions under pressure.
  • Comfortable challenging processes and holding difficult conversations when required.

Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • A recognised qualification in Automotive Engineering with a minimum C&G level 3 or BTEC/IMI/NVQ equivalent or has served in HM Armed Forces as a Vehicle Mechanic Class One.
  • B1 Driving Licence
