The Role
As a Systems Integration Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be the focal point for support and service delivery for the Land Ground Based Air Defence programme, supporting both in-service systems and future capability development.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead both the operation of our System Integration Laboratory for ensuring the deliver and support to the project with request ongoing change, integration, testing and this is a hybrid leadership role, combining the operational delivery of technical services with the strategic management of our System Integration Laboratory.
The Systems Integration Engineer will manage the daily operations of the System Integration Laboratory, ensuring security, safety, compliance, and maintaining the required level of technical readiness. Through maintaining and upgrade lab infrastructure, with respect to management of lab resources, scheduling, and procurement this will include hardware, software, and networks.
- Lead the delivery of technical services, ensuring performance against SLAs and KPIs. Plan and execute system integration, testing, and validation activities.
- Support audits and ensure traceability and compliance with engineering and security standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for service-related issues and escalations. Coordinate service reviews and performance reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement across service operations and customer support. Collaborate with technical teams to resolve incidents and implement service improvements
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office and days working from home.
Essential Experience of the Systems Integration Engineer
- Comfortable working with both hardware and software, managing test environments, and solving technical issues. You’ll be explaining technical ideas in simple terms to engineers, project managers, or customers.
- A big part of the role is making sure services are delivered smoothly and reliably, and that system integration laboratory are properly integrated and working as expected.
- Experience with solving problems, handling several tasks at once, and staying organised under pressure. We value people who build strong relationships, adapt quickly when things change, and stay focused in busy, technical environments.
- Knowledge of networking, scripting, and tools like DOORS and Wireshark is a big plus. Experience across Windows and Linux systems, combined with a solid understanding of cybersecurity and documentation, will set you up for success.

Qualifications for the Systems Integration Engineer
- A relevant degree qualification in engineering, systems, or a related discipline is required, or equivalent relevant work experience in the field, along with the ability to apply that knowledge in a dynamic, real-world environment.
- ITIL Foundation – for service management best practices.
- ISTQB Certified Tester – for structured testing knowledge.
- ISO 9001:2015 Awareness or Internal Auditor Certification – for quality management systems.
