The Role
As a Supportability Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of one of the most complex support arrangements in the UK today. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet is fully supported - tracking what’s fitted, where it’s fitted, who supplies it and how it’s maintained. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national defence while developing your career in a dynamic, high-impact environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide support at the Waterfront and be responsible for design information management. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining configuration data and datum pack records for all items fitted to Royal Navy submarines
- Managing the status of submarine technical documentation to ensure quality assurance
- Overseeing design change documentation within the submarine definition database
- Collaborating with Babcock teams, the Royal Navy, MoD, and industry partners
- Acting as a subject matter expert in supportability engineering
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Supportability Engineer:
- Using engineering documentation such as drawings and technical records
- Understanding of change management and control of engineering documentation
- Working independently and making informed decisions with limited data
- Communicating effectively across all levels of an organisation
Qualifications for the Supportability Engineer:
- HNC/BTEC Level 4 in a STEM discipline (or equivalent vocational experience)
- Working towards or holding Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant institution

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
