The role

As a Senior Supportability Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most advanced naval programmes – the Type 26 Global Combat Ship. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of maritime support by developing cutting-edge engineering solutions that maximise platform availability and reduce maintenance downtime.


You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders across the defence enterprise, including BAE, MoD and Lloyd’s Register to deliver predictive, pre-emptive and informed decisions on in-service maintenance and repair.

  • Developing and implementing digital strategies to harness data for informed decision-making
  • Building strong relationships across the defence enterprise to support platform availability
  • Supporting the integration of condition monitoring tools and software
  • Proposing innovative underwater engineering solutions to reduce dry docking
  • Providing expert knowledge and support for system integration and design changes

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Supportability Engineer:

  • Proven experience in data integration to support engineering decisions
  • Strong background in systems engineering and through life support
  • Experience supporting complex defence assets using ILS principles
  • Experience applying project management methodologies
  • Ability to work collaboratively in high-performing teams

Qualifications for the Senior Supportability Engineer:

  • Engineering qualification(s) in a relevant discipline with demonstrable experience
  • Registered or working towards professional accreditation (e.g. Incorporated Engineer)
