The role
As a Senior Operational Technology Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a dynamic team at the forefront of engineering, IT, and cyber resilience. Working within our Electrical Control and Instrumentation (C&I) team, you’ll manage and modernise the IT infrastructure that supports critical systems across both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
Day-to-day, you’ll make a real impact on national defence and infrastructure, while developing your career in a role that blends hands-on engineering with strategic IT support.
- Managing software, hardware, and IT support functions for operational assets
- Specifying and maintaining PC-based systems and virtual machines
- Overseeing software licensing, patching, and version control
- Advising internal stakeholders on operational technology and cyber security
- Diagnosing and resolving system failures across critical infrastructure
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Senior Operational Technology Engineer
- Strong expertise in computer hardware, operating systems (legacy and current), and system maintenance.
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing computer system failures, including server and RAID support.
- Capable of independently managing and upgrading operational technology assets.
- Experience with OT upgrades (e.g., DCS, PLCs, HMIs) – desirable.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices – desirable.
Qualifications for the Senior Operational Technology Engineer
- A degree in a computer-related field or significant experience in an IT for OT-related role

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
