As a Senior Mechanical Services Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering complex multidisciplinary engineering solutions that support critical defence infrastructure and national security programmes. Working within a highly skilled engineering team, you’ll lead the design, development and delivery of mechanical systems and services across major projects, providing technical leadership from concept through to construction and handover.
Day-to-day, you’ll a unique opportunity to influence high-profile engineering programmes, collaborate with specialists across multiple disciplines, and develop your career within one of the UK's leading defence, aerospace and engineering organisations. Your work will directly contribute to the safe operation, maintenance and future readiness of strategic infrastructure while giving you the opportunity to expand your technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
- Leading the delivery of mechanical services and multidisciplinary design work packages to agreed safety, quality, schedule and cost requirements.
- Managing technical requirements, reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications and engineering deliverables to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Driving design reviews, risk assessments, constructability activities and engineering assurance processes.
- Coordinating with engineering, construction, commissioning, operations and supply chain stakeholders to achieve successful project delivery.
- Mentoring engineers and designers while providing technical leadership and guidance across project teams.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Services Engineer
- Experience designing and implementing mechanical systems and services, particularly fluid systems, water systems, piping systems, pneumatic systems or hydraulic systems.
- Experience substantiating and managing complex engineering requirements within regulated industries.
- Experience supporting the construction, operation, maintenance, repair or refit of complex engineering facilities, ideally within defence, nuclear, marine or infrastructure environments.
- Strong technical design management experience across the full engineering design lifecycle.
Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Services Engineer
- Degree, or equivalent qualification, in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status - Desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution - Desirable
- Significant demonstrable engineering experience with the capability to register with the Engineering Council at Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer level - Desirable
