The role
As a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is far more than a traditional maintenance position. You'll provide technical leadership, coordinate specialist engineering teams, and ensure complex electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and operational at one of the country's most strategically important defence sites.
Day-to-day you'll be required to:
- Lead specialist electrical engineering teams to deliver planned and reactive maintenance activities safely, compliantly, and on schedule.
- Provide technical expertise for electrical infrastructure, supporting fault finding, inspections, testing, and engineering assurance activities.
- Monitor asset performance, identifying risks, prioritising actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders at technical reviews, safety forums, and governance meetings.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, engineering standards, and site-specific safety requirements.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday 07:15 – 16:45. Flexible working arrangements and agile hours are available where business needs allow.
Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer
- Proven experience within electrical maintenance and infrastructure environments.
- Experience working with Low Voltage electrical systems, including fault finding, inspection, testing, and maintenance.
- Experience operating within a highly regulated or safety-critical industry such as defence, nuclear, utilities, marine, rail, oil and gas, or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical compliance requirements, engineering standards, and safety regulations.
- Experience leading or coordinating engineering teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer
- Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering such as HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Degree, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable competence in Low Voltage electrical systems, including inspection, testing, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations and electrical safe systems of work.
- Formal electrical engineering or maintenance qualification suitable for industrial or infrastructure environments
