The role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You lead the design, integration and maintenance of high-integrity EC&I systems across nuclear facilities. Your work ensures regulatory compliance, enhances operational safety and supports the UK's clean energy and defence infrastructure.
Day-to-day, you’ll be
- Leading the delivery of robust EC&I engineering solutions that meet nuclear safety, reliability and regulatory requirements
- Collaborating with a specialist team focused on safety-critical systems across nuclear operations and decommissioning
- Supporting multidisciplinary projects within the Engineering Business Unit and aligning with strategic programmes
- Interfacing with internal stakeholders (project managers, safety case authors, commissioning engineers) and external partners (regulators, clients, suppliers)
- Ensuring all work meets industry standards, site licence conditions and quality assurance frameworks
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working 37 hours per week, based at one of our key Cavendish Nuclear locations. You’ll benefit from hybrid working arrangements, with three days a week on site at either Moor Row (Cumbria), Warrington (Cheshire), Leicester (Leicestershire) or Bristol.
Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Engineer:
- Designing and delivering EC&I systems for regulated environments
- Applying nuclear safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508, BS EN 61511) and ensuring compliance with ONR regulations
- Working within cross-functional teams to deliver complex engineering projects across the nuclear lifecycle
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to resolve design issues and support project delivery
- Producing and reviewing technical outputs such as specifications, calculations and safety case contributions
Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Engineer:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Instrumentation or a related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is desirable
Security Clearance
