The role

As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital leadership role in delivering high‑integrity engineering solutions within highly regulated, safety‑critical nuclear environments. Your expertise will directly support safe plant operations, regulatory compliance, and long‑term infrastructure resilience.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Delivering electrical, control and instrumentation engineering solutions across complex nuclear and defence projects
  • Producing high‑quality EC&I deliverables including control philosophies, requirements specifications, interlock definitions and software management plans
  • Managing engineers and designers to ensure accurate, compliant and timely production of technical outputs
  • Supporting hazard studies, design risk assessments and regulatory assurance activities
  • Working closely with project managers, safety teams, customers and supply chain partners to integrate solutions successfully

This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, based at any of our main Cavendish locations including Glasgow, Leicester, Bristol, Newbury, Warrington. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of working 3 days on site.

Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Engineer:

  • Strong experience delivering EC&I engineering within regulated or safety‑critical environments
  • Proven background working with control systems, automation or instrumentation solutions
  • Experience supporting nuclear, defence, energy or comparable highly regulated industries
  • Ability to manage technical deliverables and support multidisciplinary project teams
  • Clear understanding of safety, quality and compliance obligations

Qualifications for the Senior EC&I Engineer:

  • Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress toward professional registration is advantageous

Security Clearance
