The role

As a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll take a leading role in the safe, compliant commissioning and energisation of either low (LV), high (HV) and extra‑high voltage (EHV) electrical systems at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset. Working within a highly regulated nuclear environment, you’ll help transition complex systems from construction into operational readiness — a milestone that directly supports fuel‑load readiness and long‑term energy security.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Lead and execute commission of either LV, HV and EHV systems in line with safety rules and commissioning instructions
  • Apply and enforce nuclear, electrical and industrial safety standards through briefings, risk assessments and site oversight
  • Review and validate commission results, managing deviations and resolving technical issues with designers, suppliers and contractors
  • Produce and control commission documentation, evidence packs and system handover records.

The role is full‑time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexible hours available, based onsite in Bridgwater, Somerset.

Essential experience of the Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer:

  • Proven experience commissioning of either LV, HV or EHV electrical systems in highly regulated environments
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical testing, energisation, protection relays, interlocks, Uninterruptable Power Supply and direct current systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety rules, permits to work and lock‑out/tag‑out processes
  • Experience analysing commissioning results and resolving technical or safety‑critical issues
  • Background producing robust commissioning documentation and evidence for regulatory handover.

Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer:

  • HND or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
