The role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be a key part of our Facilities Engineering Technical Authority, delivering complex design solutions. You’ll work on the design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building services, supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine maintenance programme.
Day-to-day, you’ll drive innovation and strategic alignment across infrastructure projects by influencing design, compliance, and team capability.
- Deliver engineering solutions for complex infrastructure projects
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and review design documentation
- Support the development of engineering strategies and plans
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Senior Design Engineer
- Proven experience in civil or structural engineering design
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and standards
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry
- Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications for the Senior Design Engineer
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
