The role

As Second Line Application Support, you’ll have the chance to work on complex systems that underpin national security, giving you the opportunity to grow your technical expertise while making a real impact.

Day-to-day, you’ll provide critical technical support for a suite of software products, both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and bespoke solutions. You’ll be at the heart of our Service Management Team, ensuring smooth operations and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

  • Responding to support requests via phone and email, performing diagnostic and corrective actions.
  • Recording, updating, and closing support tickets using ITIL compliant processes.
  • Providing clear communication and progress updates to customers and stakeholders.
  • Maintaining applications in production environments through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Ensuring service delivery meets agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Babcock Technology Centre.

Essential experience of Second Line Application Support

  • Technical awareness gained in a service or software development environment.
  • Strong Oracle or SQL database administration skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Passion for software and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Diagnostic skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.

Qualifications for Second Line Application Support

  • ITIL certification (essential).

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
