The role

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll join the Facilities and Infrastructure Quality Assurance team, helping to provide independent assurance that critical assets, facilities and infrastructure meet customer, statutory and regulatory requirements. Your work will support the projects and systems that enable the maintenance and sustainment of the Royal Navy's submarines and warships.

Day-to-day, you’ll work across the project lifecycle, supporting quality planning, installation, commissioning and handover activities while helping ensure that infrastructure upgrades and modifications are delivered in line with quality standards and design intent. Your contribution will play a key role in maintaining operational readiness and supporting national security.

  • Supporting quality assurance activities across facilities, infrastructure and engineering projects.
  • Providing guidance on quality planning, installation, commissioning and handover activities to project stakeholders.
  • Verifying that project outputs meet defined quality standards, specifications and design intent.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of Quality Management Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Maintaining robust quality records and contributing to audits, risk management and continuous improvement activities.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements

Essential experience of the Quality Assurance Engineer

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience of quality assurance and quality control techniques within an engineering environment, including supply chain activities.
  • Experience supporting Quality Management Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Understanding of audit processes, quality assurance methodologies and risk management principles.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and continuous improvement skills, with knowledge of techniques such as root cause analysis, Lean, Six Sigma or Kaizen.

Qualifications for the Quality Assurance Engineer

  • Completed recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
  • NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, in an engineering or quality discipline.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
