As a Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll take ownership of complex construction and infrastructure projects within one of the UK's most important defence environments. Working at the heart of a highly skilled team, you'll lead the planning, coordination and delivery of construction activities while ensuring the highest standards of safety, security and environmental responsibility.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a visible impact on major programmes that support national security and critical infrastructure. You'll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, develop your leadership capabilities, and play a key role in delivering projects that matter. Whether you're driving project performance, managing multidisciplinary teams, or promoting a strong safety culture, your work will contribute directly to Babcock's mission of creating a safe and secure world.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to
- Lead and coordinate pre-construction and construction teams to deliver project objectives safely and effectively.
- Drive a strong nuclear safety and security culture across projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant processes and standards.
- Manage project schedules, reporting, financial performance and construction management activities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage risks, dependencies and opportunities.
- Ensure health, safety, security and environmental requirements are embedded throughout project delivery.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week, based onsite at Devonport
Essential experience of the Project Manager
- Proven experience managing complex projects and delivering successful outcomes within challenging environments.
- Experience leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, governance and delivery processes.
- Experience applying organisational policies, procedures and capability management frameworks.
- Health and safety training such as IOSH or NEBOSH
- NEC4 experience – Desirable
Qualifications for the Project Manager
- A recognised Level 6 qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent demonstrable experience operating at this level.
- Association for Project Management Qualification certified, preferably working towards Registered Project Professional status
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) Security clearance for this role.
