Shape and influence project delivery across a major defence aviation programme

As a Project Management Lead, you’ll provide central coordination, governance and oversight across a wide portfolio of work within our Aviation business. You will act as the focal point for customer demand, project intake, change requests and proposal activity, ensuring all work is prioritised, structured and governed effectively. Your role will strengthen programme performance, increase visibility across the portfolio and ensure decisions are based on accurate, timely information.
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Leading the coordination, tracking and governance of project requests, proposals and change activity across a complex aviation portfolio.
- Preparing accurate, high‑quality proposals, responses and supporting documentation in line with governance requirements.
- Providing clear reporting on project progress, risks, issues and dependencies, maintaining visibility across all active and upcoming work.
- Managing the lifecycle of customer requests from initial enquiry through to project closure and handover.
- Supporting communication and alignment between commercial, finance, procurement, delivery teams and customer stakeholders.
This is a full‑time hybrid role, working 40 hours per week, with on‑site attendance for customer meetings and team collaboration.
Essential experience of the Project Management Lead:
- Proven experience in Project Management Office, project coordination or delivery support within a complex operational or regulated environment.
- Experience supporting proposals, requests for quotation and/or change control processes.
- Strong understanding of governance, assurance and structured delivery frameworks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
- Strong commercial writing skills and experience producing high‑quality documentation.
Qualifications for the Project Management Lead:
Formal project or PMO qualification (such as PRINCE2, APM or PMO Practitioner) desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
