The role
As a Project Controls Manager, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated project controls across one of the UK’s most critical defence programmes. This is your opportunity to influence senior stakeholders, drive operational excellence and make a tangible difference to national security. You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic environment where your expertise shapes outcomes that matter.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead a multi disciplined team to support and deliver operational excellence to support the A – Class Programme.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing project controls team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Own the development and integration of the Performance Management Baseline across schedule, cost, risk and scope.
- Ensure effective use of planning and scheduling tools (e.g. Primavera P6), cost control systems and risk frameworks.
- Provide accurate, timely performance reporting to enable proactive decision-making.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior stakeholders, delivering insights from integrated project controls data.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2-3 days in the office/onsite and 2-3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Project Controls Manager
- Proven experience in a senior project controls role within complex projects or programmes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of planning, cost, risk, and change control disciplines.
- Proficiency in project controls tools (Primavera P6, Deltek Acumen Fuse, Excel, risk tools).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Qualifications for the Project Controls Manager
- Relevant qualifications in project controls, project management, or engineering (e.g. APM, PMI, or equivalent).
- Experience in defence, infrastructure, or regulated industries is desirable.
