The role

As a Project Assistant, you’ll play a vital role supporting the successful delivery of high‑value programmes that enhance the UK’s defence and engineering capability.

Day-to-day, you’ll be part of a team responsible for upgrading essential dockyard infrastructure, work that underpins the Royal Navy’s ability to operate safely and effectively. This is a role with purpose, variety and real‑world impact, offering you the opportunity to develop your career across project delivery, stakeholder engagement and wider defence engineering disciplines.

  • Support the delivery of project management documentation, including risk, scope, schedule, quality and continuous improvement activity.
  • Produce and present clear project information to support analysis and performance reporting.
  • Maintain strong communication across the project team and wider stakeholders.
  • Promote our company values and contribute positively to team culture.
  • Carry out additional duties as required to meet project and customer needs.

This role is full time, 35, hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Project Assistant

  • Awareness of project management techniques and activities.
  • Strong IT literacy, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to capture and communicate project information clearly.
  • Understanding of sensitive information handling.
  • Experience in an engineering or technical environment - Desirable

Qualifications for the Project Assistant

  • Minimum ONC in an engineering discipline, or a business qualification (Diploma in Management minimum), or relevant demonstrable experience - Essential
  • APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) or equivalent project management training - Desirable
  • Experience within engineering or a technical industry - Desirable

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
