As a Programme Manager Strategic Projects, you will be at the heart of Babcock’s strategic growth, turning ambition into delivery. This is a role for someone who thrives on complexity, brings clarity to multi‑workstream programmes and takes pride in delivering outcomes that matter.
Sitting within our Growth and Engineering directorate, you’ll lead strategically important programmes from concept through to completion. Your work will shape new technologies, improve operational performance and position Babcock for long‑term commercial success — while accelerating your own leadership development in a highly visible, business‑critical role.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Owning end‑to‑end delivery of complex, strategic programmes, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time, within scope and with clear commercial benefit
- Leading development, improvement and FEED initiatives, embedding lifecycle, manufacturability and service considerations from the outset
- Providing programme‑level governance, control and reporting across multiple concurrent workstreams, managing risk, dependency and change
- Operating within structured stage‑gate governance frameworks, owning business cases, documentation and evidence‑based decision making
- Acting as the connective lead across engineering, commercial and external stakeholders, representing Babcock with credibility and confidence.
This role is full time (37.5 hours per week) and based at Rosyth. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of three days per week on site, international travel, will be expected.
Essential experience of the Programme Manager Strategic Projects:
- Proven experience delivering complex, multi‑workstream programmes within an engineering or technically led environment
- Strong programme governance capability, including stage‑gate or gated development frameworks
- Sound commercial awareness, with experience integrating cost, margin, schedule and lifecycle considerations
- Technical credibility enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Programme Manager Strategic Projects:
- Formal project or programme management qualification (APM, PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)
- Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering, technical or numerate discipline
- Experience within marine, energy, capital equipment or similarly regulated engineering sectors (desirable).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
