The role
As a Principal Supportability Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. you’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of the UK’s submarine fleet, including the Dreadnought and SSNA Class platforms. This is a high-impact role that offers the opportunity to influence national defence strategy while advancing your career in a dynamic and forward-thinking engineering environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the development of support solutions from concept through to build and transition into service, ensuring optimal maintenance and through-life cost efficiency.
- Managing and coaching a team of Integrated Product Support (IPS) Leads and specialists
- Driving engineering support for Trafalgar, Astute and Vanguard Class submarines in service
- Supporting the design and build of future naval platforms to define preferred support solutions
- Leading concept and assessment phases for future maritime platforms
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to optimise supportability outcomes
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Principal Supportability Engineer
- Leading or supporting the development of Integrated Product Support (IPS) solutions
- Evaluating technical issues and proposing solutions or process improvements
- Conducting technical investigations and analysis for problem resolution and design enhancements
- Mentoring team members and driving continuous improvement
- Communicating effectively across disciplines and stakeholder groups
Qualifications for the Principal Supportability Engineer
- Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline with demonstrable experience (Equivalent experience in lieu of formal education will be considered)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC security clearance for this role.
