The role

As a Portfolio Controls and Reporting Manager, you’ll be at the heart of delivering strategic improvements across one of the UK’s most critical defence sites. Working closely with the Ministry of Defence, you’ll help transform how we manage and report on multi-million-pound infrastructure projects. Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the development, monitoring, and reporting of infrastructure Portfolio across the Devonport site.

  • Design and maintain a real-time portfolio dashboard and business intelligence solutions.
  • Implement best-practice reporting, metrics, and data visualisation methods.
  • Ensure project-level data integrity and alignment across portfolio reporting.
  • Drive digital transformation of portfolio reporting platforms.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to support strategic decisions.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2-3 days in the office/onsite and 2-3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Portfolio Controls and Reporting Manager

  • Strong knowledge of portfolio controls principles (cost, schedule, risk, change).
  • Experience in data modelling, analytics and visualisation tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Power BI and Azure DevOps is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications for the Portfolio Controls and Reporting Manager

  • Strong understanding of portfolio, programme, and project management methodologies.
  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., data science, finance, business, change management) preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in strategy, portfolio/programme management, or corporate development.
  • Certifications in MoP, P3O, Prince2, MSP, or Agile are advantageous.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
