
Pipe Fitter
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• To be able to install small bore heating systems within client’s properties using screwed steel pipework
• Handle, assemble and install a variety of metal pipes, tubes, and fittings.
• Understanding of communal heating systems
• Pressure test newly installed pipework
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Ability to use screwing machines
• Remove and replace worn components safely.
• Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints.
• Respond to jobs raised from a PDA system.
• Write accurate and detailed reports to allow Planning Team and Purchasing Team to know what is required for any follow-on work.
• Liaise effectively with office staff to update operation of jobs.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Positive client and customer liaison during visits.
• Work in a safe and compliant manner at all times giving due regard to own and others safety in the workplace.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
QUALIFICATIONS 1. You must possess a relevant qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or BTEC) that incorporates or specialises in pipefitting and assembly.
2. Educated to GSCE Maths and English

EXPERIENCE
• Must be able to demonstrate previous experience as a Pipefitter in an M&E Capacity (minimum 3 Years’ experience)
• Experience of working with steel, copper and plastic pipe
• Experience in cutting and threading steel pipe.
• Experience of working with screwed, soldered and Mapress fittings.
• Experience of working in an M&E setting
SPECIAL FACTORS
The nature of the business will involve carrying out work outside of normal working hours
(such as evenings, early hours, weekends and bank holidays). This will be the participation in an “out of hours” call out rota.
