The role

As a Multi Skilled Operative, you'll provide vital support to Fleet Engineering teams, helping ensure planned maintenance, engineering activities, and operational support tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This is an excellent opportunity to build your experience within defence engineering, working alongside skilled professionals supporting submarines, surface craft, and estate infrastructure.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Supporting engineering teams to deliver planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assisting with the identification and rectification of equipment defects, alterations, and engineering issues.
  • Handling, controlling, issuing, and returning work equipment in line with operational requirements.
  • Working safely within health and safety legislation, safe systems of work, and control of work procedures.
  • Contributing ideas that improve processes, efficiency, productivity, and operational performance.

This role is 37 hours per week, based on site at HMNB Clyde. Set working times are Monday to Thursday, 7:15am to 4:45pm.

Essential experience of the Multi Skilled Operative:

  • Experience working within an engineering, maintenance, industrial, manufacturing, marine, defence, or operational environment.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • Experience following procedures, work instructions, and established processes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while supporting multiple operational priorities.
  • Practical experience handling equipment and completing physically active tasks safely.

Qualifications for the Multi Skilled Operative:

  • Demonstrable practical skills and experience relevant to engineering support or operational activities.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
