The role
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of our aviation operations, leading maintenance activities that keep aircraft mission ready. This is a hands-on leadership role where your technical expertise and ability to guide others will directly impact operational success and safety. You’ll be empowered to sign off work, mentor junior technicians, and ensure compliance in a dynamic and safety-critical environment.
Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
- Lead and supervise detailed maintenance activities on aircraft and components
- Diagnose faults and apply engineering knowledge to resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with technical documentation and maintenance standards
- Guide and support less experienced team members
- Communicate effectively across teams and stakeholders
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley. The working pattern is a 4-day week: Monday–Wednesday 07:00–17:00, Thursday 07:00–16:30, with overtime available on Fridays.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Supervisor
- Strong background in engineering, ideally within aviation or a highly regulated industry
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor teams
- Experience with fault diagnosis and maintenance procedures
- Familiarity with safety systems and working in safety-conscious environments
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational setting
Qualifications for the Mechanical Supervisor
- NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline or completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship
- Experience in aviation or a highly regulated industry - Desirable
- Aircraft platform training - Desirable (training will be provided)
- Trade Principles training - Desirable (training will be provided)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
