The role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing critical systems on Royal Navy vessels. This is an opportunity to work on projects that truly matter—supporting national security while advancing your career in a dynamic, high-tech environment. You’ll join a multi-skilled team where your expertise will help keep submarines and surface ships operational, ensuring safety and performance at every level.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and repair work to meet operational objectives.
- Identifying and fixing system defects and implementing alterations to maintain vessel performance.
- Suggesting process improvements to boost productivity and efficiency.
- Working within Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
- Performing tasks in confined spaces and at varying heights safely and effectively.
This is a full-time, permanent role, 36 hours per week, based on-site at Clyde.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter.
- Background in a highly regulated environment.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces and at height.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter:
- A recognised Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship to N/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- National Certificate in an engineering discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
