Morson Talent are recruiting for Mechanical fitters to work with our client, providing specialist engineering services on-site at Rosyth dockyard in Scotland.
Key Accountabilities
Day-to-day, you’ll be expected to undertake general Mechanical Fitter activities, including below:
- Work to engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Remove, overhaul and install a variety of mechanical equipment which could
- Include hydraulics, water and fuel systems and LP/HP air
- Assist commissioning teams with setting to work
- Install and align the overhauled equipment
- Work alongside OEM reps on equipment
As well as daily routine maintenance checks, you will be expected to plan and execute operations in a safe and controlled manner on behalf of the company in accordance with the HSE at Work Act and job-specific method statements. You will take ownership of activities and processes within your manufacturing remit and ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times under a “safety first” culture.

Qualifications/Experience
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship qualified to SVY level 3 (or NVQ and C&G equivalent) or HNC and above in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with industry experience.
- Previous Mechanical fitter experience within a maintenance or ship environment.
- Ability to understand and read drawings, think on your feet and problem solve with a high attention to detail and fault finding.
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet acceptance standards.
- Experience in Maintenance procedures, Risk Assessments, Method statements, COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work with excellent teamworking skills.
Systems installation covering
- Shaft-line
- Power Generation
- Prime movers
- Assorted valves, pumps, propellers and rudders
- Removal of mechanical equipment
36 standard hours per week, with overtime possible.
Full SC clearance is a requirement for this role.
