The role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be a key technical authority supporting operational plant performance within a highly regulated nuclear environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work hands‑on with safety‑critical systems, providing engineering expertise that enables safe, reliable and compliant operations.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, environmental, quality and legislative requirements across all engineering activities
- Provide technical authority for Management of Change and Management of Operations processes
- Deliver clear advice and documentation to senior leaders, system owners, operators and maintainers
- Own engineering issues by planning, managing and delivering safe, effective mechanical solutions
- Undertake secondary site roles such as Radiological Protection Supervisor or PUWER Assessor, with training provided
This is a full-time role, based on site at Torness, Dunbar, East Lothian. Working Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer:
- Experience working within a highly regulated industry.
- Proven mechanical engineering fault‑finding and resolution.
- Experience designing and substantiating engineered modification packages
- Ability to deliver turnkey engineering work packages from documentation through to installation and testing
- Competence producing and amending engineering documentation, drawings and method statements.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or HNC/HND with relevant experience
Security Clearance
