The role
As a Material Strategy Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of an experienced team who support the UK Armed forces with spares, directly effecting vehicle availability and reliability. You will have the responsibility to maintain, and subsequently use Engineering expertise to exploit, a Material Strategy by Part (sometimes referred to as a Plan for Every Part). This promotes the challenge and improvement of specifications, direct routes to supply, capture issues, enable obsolescence management, and mitigate counterfeit. This would enable stability in the supply chain, improve supplier relations, allow more accurate forecasting, improve understanding of risk, and enhance supply chain improvement. The Material Strategy Team have assumed responsibility for the design, development, validation & verification, adoption into BAU and continued management of two business critical systems, Material Strategy by Part (MSP) and Material Demand Triage (MDT). Day to day you’ll:
- Utilise the MSP data to support MDT to correct resolution.
- Review Demand for Intervention Opportunities
- Review Procurement Issues as escalated by the Technical and Obsolescence Team
- Review PMO and Ops issues as escalated by the Technical and Obsolescence Team
- Manage requirements for revised specifications as a result of tactical or planned review and pass to the relevant teams (MAS/TechnicalEngineering/Technical and Obsolescence) to enact.
- Provide Support to SRM and OBMT functions relating to FAI/PPAP
This role is full time (37 hours) Monday to Friday and will be based in Donnington. The role offers agile working hours arrangements.
Essential experience of the Material Strategy Engineer
- Advanced PC user (MS Office, MS Outlook, SharePoint, ERP system)
- Experience of working with data and reporting tools (e.g., Clarity. MS Excel)
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to make rational decisions based on information availableAbility to react to changing demands
Qualifications for the Material Strategy Engineer
- Educated to Level 3 in National Qualification Framework (NQF) as a minimum (Intermediate apprenticeship, Level 3 NVQ) in an Engineering Discipline, or equivalent workplace experience
