The role

As a Lead Change Manager, you’ll take a central role in driving the change strategy across Babcock’s Capability, Capacity and Resilience (CCR) portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to influence major transformation programmes that strengthen how we operate at one of the UK’s most significant defence sites.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead the planning, integration and adoption of change, ensuring leaders and end users are equipped, ready and confident to embrace new capabilities.

  • Lead all change management activity across the CCR portfolio, ensuring alignment with programme vision and organisational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain business change roadmaps, integrating change activities into wider programme and portfolio plans.
  • Conduct change impact assessments, analysing data and identifying risks to ensure successful adoption.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and direction to change managers and portfolio teams to embed best‑practice change.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, readiness and delivery progress.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Lead Change Manager

  • Experience leading change activity within complex portfolios in sectors such as defence, public sector, regulated industries, infrastructure or technology.
  • Strong understanding of change processes and how people experience change.
  • Ability to apply and embed best‑practice change management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to drive positive behavioural change.
  • Ability to create an environment that enables teams to deliver successfully.

Qualifications for the Lead Change Manager

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Prosci and/or APMG Change Management certification, or relevant experience in a similar environment.
  • Additional accreditation in organisational development, transformation, behavioural science or project/programme management - Desirable
