The Role
As an Installation Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be responsible to the Installation Team Leader to conduct electrical, data and mechanical installation and maintenance activities at remote sites.
The role also provides short-term resource for various Service Delivery tasks and embedded Task Services Form (TSF) activities. The role does require regular travel and sustained deployment at locations both in the UK and overseas.
- To work under the direction of an Installation Team Leader and provide installation, as required, for electrical, data, mechanical and communication equipment at Customer locations.
- To assist the Installation Team Leader to ensure that all installation related documentation is submitted to the Customer for approval prior to undertaking any installation activities and again on completion of all tasks; including method statements and risk assessments.
- To ensure that appropriate engineering standards, as dictated by Babcock standards, Customer standards or professional bodies, ensuring best practice is employed in all installation activities.
- To ensure they work in a safe and efficient manner at all times to produce quality assured products.
- Ensure that all activities undertaken are in compliance with Technical Services QMS processes.
- To contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the Programmes and Engineering function provided to the Customer so that Babcock becomes the Customer’s supplier of first choice and undertake tasks scheduled by the PCPO as and when required, maximising fee-paying work, but also supporting operational output on sites, as and when required.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.
Essential Experience of the Installation Technician
- Adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities.
- Willing to gain a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
- Must possess (or be willing to gain) an adequate knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) 2015 regulations.
- Obtain IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Level.
- Must possess a full UK Driving Licence.
Qualifications for the Installation Technician
- City & Guilds parts 1 and 2 in Electrical Installations.
- City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 certificate of inspection and testing of electrical installations.
- City & Guilds 2392 level 3 certificate of inspection and testing of electrical installations.
- Working knowledge of electrical installations (Basic record of proven ability in related work).
- City & Guilds 2377-22 Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
- BS7671 (Latest Edition) Electrical Wiring Regulations Incorporating latest amendments
Demonstrable equivalent industry experience will be considered
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
