The role

As a Group Sustainability Programme Manager, you’ll take a pivotal role in leading and coordinating delivery of Babcock’s Group Sustainability Strategy. This is a highly visible position where you’ll provide direction, governance and insight across a complex portfolio of sustainability initiatives that span our business.

This role offers the opportunity to shape real change at scale strengthening environmental performance while enhancing your own leadership capability, programme governance expertise and strategic influence.

Day-to-day, you’ll work with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams to maintain momentum, embed best practice and ensure that sustainability commitments translate into measurable outcomes.

  • Leading the strategic programme management and delivery of the Group Sustainability Strategy
  • Coordinating governance, reporting and cross‑functional delivery across sustainability initiatives
  • Managing major environmental projects through the full programme lifecycle
  • Providing insight, direction and thought leadership on sustainability priorities and performance
  • Developing and supporting team capability

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home.

Essential experience of the Group Sustainability Programme Manager

  • Proven experience managing complex programmes or projects within a large organisation
  • Recent and relevant experience in sustainability, environmental programmes or a related field
  • Strong ability to influence without direct authority and maintain delivery momentum
  • Demonstrated experience establishing programme governance and reporting frameworks
  • High level of IT capability, including programme and performance reporting tools

Qualifications for the Group Sustainability Programme Manager

  • Academic – Batchelors degree and/or project management qualifications (APM PMQ/ChPP or international equivalent desirable or agreement to attain)
  • APM/similar membership

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
