The role
As a Gas Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining and supporting the critical infrastructure that underpins military training and national defence. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse and historic estate, developing your expertise while contributing to an organisation that delivers meaningful impact across defence, aerospace and engineering.
Day-to-day, you’ll be:
- Delivering planned, reactive and remedial maintenance across mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, water hygiene, and drainage.
- Completing routine site and weekly checks, fault finding, and managing repairs.
- Servicing and repairing commercial boilers and supporting mechanical system upgrades.
- Maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of mechanical system supplies.
- Carrying out occasional plumbing tasks when required.
Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
The role is based onsite at Minley, and the set working times are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm and Friday 8am to 4pm, totalling 40 hours per week.
Company van will be provided including use for commuting to and from work. On call allowance available for qualified Commercial Gas Engineers.
Essential experience of the Gas Engineer:
- Qualified Domestic Gas Engineer (full training provided to progress into Commercial Gas Engineering).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, safety‑focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team.
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn and upskill.
- Experience within a commercial environment is desirable but not essential.
Qualifications for the Gas:
- CCN1 certification - Core Domestic Gas Safety
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
