The Role
As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll be at the heart of our Mission Systems business, supporting strategic communications and secure operations across multiple projects. This is a dynamic opportunity to influence decision-making, drive performance, and shape the future of defence and engineering.
You’ll work closely with operational teams to deliver robust financial insights, improve processes, and support growth initiatives. It’s a role that offers variety, challenge, and the chance to grow into a senior leadership position.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Build strong relationships with cost centre managers and bidding teams, delivering monthly reports and variance analysis.
- Input into monthly balance sheet reconciliations and overhead reviews, ensuring timely and high-quality documentation.
- Complete forecasting requirements with precision and clarity.
- Review projects to maximise profit and ensure accurate trading margins.
- Lead monthly performance reviews with operational teams, offering insight and challenge where needed.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite at Ashton Vale and Devonport and 3 days working from home.
This role involves supporting a range of remote projects based in Cumbria, with quarterly site visits required for a few days at a time.
Essential Experience of the Finance Business Partner
- Experience in a project-based Finance Business Partner role.
- Ability to solve complex problems with elegant, practical solutions.
- Proven track record of driving performance and embracing change.
- Strong Excel modelling and Microsoft Office skills.
- Flexibility to meet tight deadlines and adapt to evolving priorities.
Qualifications for the Finance Business Partner
- Ideally qualified or part-qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Ability to interpret and present financial data clearly and concisely.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate will be eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) but will need to obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance and possible Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance once in post.
