The role

As an Engineering Support Operative, you'll play an important role in supporting frontline waterfront operations at one of the UK's most strategically significant defence sites. Working within a fast-paced engineering and operational environment, you'll provide multi-skilled support across a variety of activities that help ensure vessels, equipment, and waterfront facilities remain operational, safe, and mission ready.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Supporting waterfront operations to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to schedule.
  • Following established procedures and safe systems of work while maintaining the highest operational standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and productivity.
  • Working in accordance with health, safety and environmental requirements across the site.
  • Performing a variety of operational and engineering support activities within your skills, training and capability

This role is full time, 36 hours per week, based on site at HM Naval Base Clyde. Set working times are Monday to Thursday, 36 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Engineering Support Operative:

  • Experience of waterfront, marine, maritime, engineering, industrial or operational support activities.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and safe working practices.
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements within an operational environment.
  • Experience of quality assurance processes and working to established standards.
  • Knowledge of manual handling activities and risk assessment principles.

Qualifications for the Engineering Support Operative:

  • Slinging Signaller qualification.
  • Diesel Counterbalance up to 5000kg Familiarisation (Category B1).
  • Emergency Exposure REPPIR Training.
  • Emergency First Aid certification.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
