The role
As an Engineering Design Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll lead and inspire multi‑disciplinary engineering teams on one of the UK’s most strategically important nuclear infrastructure programmes. Supporting the design and delivery of a new facility that will underpin the UK’s nuclear fuel cycle, this role puts you at the heart of complex, high‑value engineering from concept through to Engineering, Procurement and Construction.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Lead multi‑disciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, high‑quality design solutions
- Provide technical governance and assurance as Design or Technical Authority
- Integrate engineering work packages across process, mechanical, electrical and civil disciplines
- Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, quality and regulatory requirements
- Support planning, estimating and risk management across the engineering lifecycle.
This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, based at Warrington, Cheshire or Preston, Lancashire. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Engineering Design Manager:
- Proven experience leading engineering teams within major complex projects
- Strong understanding of full project lifecycles from concept design to delivery
- Experience managing multi‑disciplinary technical interfaces
- Ability to act as a technical authority within a regulated environment.
Qualifications for the Engineering Design Manager:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer status, or demonstrable experience working towards chartership, is desirable
