The role
As an Engineering Delivery Manager within Devonport Engineering, you’ll lead and coordinate a team of Engineering Managers within Devonport Engineering’s Technical Authority. Your role is to ensure that engineering design activities are safely delivered, appropriately resourced and aligned to business and customer priorities across nuclear and non‑nuclear facilities.
Day to day, you’ll provide oversight across the full engineering lifecycle, manage performance, and drive continuous improvement—ensuring high‑quality engineering outcomes that enable submarine and warship upkeep programmes. It’s a unique opportunity to influence critical infrastructure, shape engineering capability, and further develop your leadership career in a highly regulated environment.
- Leading and coordinating a team of Engineering Managers to deliver complex engineering outputs
- Providing technical and professional oversight to ensure safe, compliant design solutions
- Managing resources and capability, ensuring the team is competent and appropriately skilled
- Engaging with stakeholders, balancing customer requirements, safety and delivery constraints
- Driving performance and continuous improvement across internal and external engineering delivery
This role is full time, 35 hours per week providing hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 3 days in the office/onsite and the remainder working from home.
Essential experience of the Engineering Delivery Manager
- Proven experience delivering engineering solutions across the full design lifecycle
- Demonstrable leadership experience within complex, safety‑critical environments
- Experience delivering facility designs or upgrades on regulated or nuclear licensed sites
- Strong understanding of engineering governance, safety and assurance practices
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities effectively
Qualifications for the Engineering Delivery Manager
- Degree in a STEM subject, or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or clear evidence of working towards professional registration
- Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution (advantageous)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
