The role

As an Electrician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of electrical systems that support essential military training and estate operations. This is meaningful work with real-world impact — your expertise will help keep critical infrastructure running safely, while your career grows in a dynamic engineering environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:

  • Providing a full programme of electrical testing, inspection and maintenance across estate-wide systems.
  • Diagnosing electrical faults and coordinating effective repairs alongside maintenance colleagues.
  • Supporting predictive maintenance activities in line with asset management and lifecycle plans.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve electrical services and implementing cost‑effective solutions.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory levels for electrical components and supplies.

Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This is a full-time role, totalling 40 hours per week, based at Minley. Working Monday to Thursday, 8am–4:30pm, and Friday, 8am–4pm. Participation in an on-call rota will be required after six months, with additional pay and overtime rates.

  • On‑call allowance: £2,520 per year after completing probation, based on 12 weeks of on‑call cover.
    Callout payments are paid separately, with each callout paid at a minimum of 4 hours.
  • Company van provided, including use for commuting to and from work with fuel costs covered
  • Overtime rates:
    • Time and a half on weekdays and Saturdays
    • Double time on Sundays

Essential experience of the Electrician:

  • Experience working as an electrician within a maintenance or technical environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with colleagues across engineering and maintenance teams.
  • A proactive approach to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications for the Electrician:

  • Electrical inspection and testing certification (2391).
  • Latest wiring regulations qualification (BS7671) — 18th Edition (17th Edition accepted, with funded pathway to 18th Edition).
  • Level 3 electrical qualification.
  • Manual driving licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
