The role

As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving electrical systems across a complex and high-profile defence estate. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same — from routine maintenance to solving complex faults, your work will directly support operational readiness and site safety.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, skilled team where your expertise is valued and your development is supported. This role offers the opportunity to build on your technical skills while working in a dynamic environment that contributes to national security.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
  • Identifying faults, defects and required alterations to maintain performance and reliability
  • Supporting trades and collaborating with colleagues across maintenance teams
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety regulations, policies and procedures
  • Suggesting improvements to systems and processes to enhance performance and efficiency.

This is a full-time role working 36 hours per week, based on site at HMNB Clyde.

Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter

  • Demonstrating experience working with electrical systems, equipment and maintenance processes
  • Applying knowledge of regulations, health and safety standards and documentation
  • Carrying out electrical fault finding, repairs and installation work
  • Working within controlled environments and following safe systems of work.

Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter

  • SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Maintenance or equivalent qualification (essential)
  • 2391 Test and Inspection qualification (advantageous)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
