The role
As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working within Babcock Submarine Support Engineering supporting you’ll be empowered as a Task Owner, giving you the authority to apply your judgement across a wide range of electrical engineering challenges. You’ll support the Ministry of Defence with technical expertise, shaping solutions that directly impact submarine maintenance and operational readiness.
Day-to-day, you’ll be part of a team that values innovation, precision, and purpose.
- Developing Design Change Instructions and conducting technical investigations
- Performing submarine surveys and generating technical reports
- Creating and analysing engineering databases
- Scoping and scheduling tasks to support MOD operations
- Applying engineering judgement across a variety of electrical challenges
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Electrical Engineer
- Confident communicator with the ability to present ideas clearly to stakeholders
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Experience in submarine maintenance (ex-operator or waterfront support preferred)
- Other relevant electrical engineering experience will also be considered
Qualifications for the Electrical Engineer
- A minimum Level 3 Electrical engineering qualification is required (details not specified in the job description)
