As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, compliant, and efficient electrical infrastructure across a highly regulated naval base environment. Acting as a Technical Authority, you’ll influence design decisions, assure compliance, and support projects ranging from small in-house upgrades to large-scale infrastructure developments.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Designing electrical systems and producing technical solutions aligned to regulatory and safety standards
- Reviewing and assuring internal and external electrical designs for quality and compliance
- Acting as Technical Authority for electrical services across infrastructure projects
- Surveying and inspecting assets, applying defence estate standards and identifying improvements
- Collaborating with internal teams, customers, and external contractors to deliver engineering solutions.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week, based at HM Naval Base Clyde. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Demonstrating proven experience in electrical design engineering within commercial or industrial environments
- Applying strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure
- Understanding statutory and regulatory requirements, including hazardous area considerations
- Interpreting engineering drawings and carrying out electrical calculations
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders across engineering and project teams.
Qualifications for the Electrical Design Engineer:
- Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
- City and Guilds Design and Verification (desirable)
- City and Guilds Inspection and Testing (desirable)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
